Albany,NY : Albany officer involved in off-duty hit-and-run on may, Tuesday 16th 2017

The Albany Police Department says one of its off-duty patrol officers has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Department officials say the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on a road in the city’s Pine Hills section. Officials say a motorist reported that his vehicle was broadsided by another vehicle whose driver then left the scene.

Police say the motorist didn’t report being injured that morning but sought treatment for minor injuries the next day.

Police say the bumper and license plate from the officer’s car fell off and were found at the crash scene.

Officials on Wednesday identified the officer as Shawn Dixon.

He was suspended without pay. It couldn’t be learned from police if he has a lawyer.
