Fort Collins man was killed in car crash
A 24-year-old Fort Collins man was killed late Wednesday night when he was ejected from his car after a crash on Interstate 25.
Dario Fascal-Velasco, of Fort Collins, was traveling northbound on I-25 just south of the Berthoud exit when the 1996 Honda Accord he was driving moved from the left lane to the right lane, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis.
The rear side of the Honda reportedly struck the front of a 2013 Toyota 4 Runner, causing the Honda to rotate and travel off the east side of the highway.
According to Lewis, the Honda rolled at least three times. Fascal-Velasco, who had not been wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the Toyota, 31-year-old Meghan Korth of Westminster, was not transported to the hospital but later went to Medical Center of the Rockies as a precaution, Lewis said.
The crash, which occurred just after 10 p.m., remains under investigation. Lewis said that alcohol and speed are both being considered as factors.
