Hamden, CT : New Haven man dies in car crash in the area of Newhall Street and Newbury Street on Friday, November 25, 2016

Hamden police are investigating an early morning car crash that took the life of a New Haven man.

Officers responding to a report of a crash just before 2 a.m. Friday found a man lying in the road next to his vehicle in the area of Newhall Street and Newbury Street.

The victim, identified as 41-year-old Charles Knight III, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Knight’s vehicle struck a stone wall, and then continued on until it came to a rest against a street sign pole.

The crash remains under investigation and witnesses are being asked to contact investigators.
