Davidsonville, MD : 75-year-old woman died in a crash on an entrance ramp to Route 50 Monday morning, February 22, 2016

Maryland State Police have identified a 75-year-old woman that was killed after the car she was driving crashed on an entrance ramp to Route 50 Monday morning in Davidsonville.

Police said Roberta Kay Wentland, of Odenton, was driving a 2015 Lexus GS350 onto the eastbound Route 50 on-ramp from Davidsonville Road when it crashed. A witness reported seeing the car slowing down and driving erratically shortly before the crash, police said.

The car took the ramp onto eastbound Route 50 where it struck a curb and ultimately a barrier, police said. Wentland was declared dead at the scene.

The ramp was closed to traffic for about three hours following the accident.

As of Tuesday morning, what caused Wentland to lose control of the vehicle remained unknown. An investigation remained ongoing.

The accident marked the fourth traffic-related death in the county since Saturday.
