Granada Hills, CA : Two CHP officers injured after patrol car hit by a vehicle near the Interstate 5 and Highway 14 on Wednesday, Nov 25, 2015

Two California Highway Patrol officers were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Wednesday with minor injuries after their patrol car was hit by a vehicle that spun out of control near the Interstate 5 and Highway 14 interchange shortly before 1 a.m.

The officers were assisting in a separate traffic stop when the driver of a 2011 Honda Civic traveling southbound on I-5 lost control of the vehicle and hit the back of the squad car, said CHP Officer Josh Greengard.

The vehicles then struck the officers, who were standing on the shoulder of the road, according to a news release.

The driver of the Civic was not arrested or cited.

“It was very wet out,” Greengard said, noting a light rain in the area at the time of the crash. “That’s how the driver lost control.”
