Kokomo, IN : Burglary suspect hospitalized after car chase ends in crash on Saturday, 24th September 2016
A Kokomo man was arrested Saturday after an alleged armed break-in and car chase led him to being flown to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Gurth N. Bryan Jr. was charged with burglary, a level 2 felony, domestic battery, a level 5 felony, criminal recklessness.
According to Kokomo Police Maj. Brian Seldon, officers responded to a report of a break-in and battery in the 1400 block of Dunham on Berkley.
The resident stated Bryan broke into the residence and threatened her with a gun, Seldon said.
Officers received a vehicle description and attempted to stop Bryan’s vehicle at the intersection of Philips Street and Judson Road, giving way to a car chase.
It went on for a couple miles west of Kokomo before Bryan’s vehicle lost control, going off the road and striking a tree.
He was initially taken to St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital before being flown to a hospital in Fort Wayne.
Seldon said Bryan’s incarceration at the Howard County jail is anticipated once he is released from the hospital.
