Redmond ,WA : Child struck and killed by car in downtown Redmond on Wednesday afternoon ,July 1st 2015

A 2-year-old girl was killed after she was struck by a car at Redmond Town Center Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The girl was near an outside seating area at the Redmond shopping center when she ran out onto Northeast 74th Street shortly before 5 p.m., according to Redmond police. A man driving east on the roadway at 164th Avenue Northeast wasn’t able to stop in time and struck her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. He also agreed to a voluntary blood draw.

Redmond police traffic division is investigating.
