Flushing, NY : 10 people were injured when a van hit a Q12 bus in Flushing on May 2nd 2014
Investigators said an airport shuttle van ran a red light moments before it collided with a New York City bus, causing a traffic accident Friday night that left 10 people injured.
A police spokesman said that the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2009 Ford van did not stop as it traveled east on Northern Boulevard around 10 p.m. Friday.
The spokesman said Saturday it was not immediately clear what charges the driver may face.
The van collided with a Q12 bus trying to make a left turn from Northern to Prince Street in Flushing. The bus driver sustained a serious leg injury and was transported to New York Hospital Queens. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The bus was not in service at the time. The van driver and the eight other people on board all suffered minor injuries.
Three lanes were closed eastbound on Northern Boulevard at Prince Street, leaving one open lane and clogging traffic Friday night.
