Vero Beach, FL : Two injured after vehicle crash in Vero Beach on Saturday, June 18, 2016

Two people were hospitalized after a vehicle crash Saturday in the 3300 block of 66th Street in Vero Beach, said Indian River County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Eric Flowers.

Flowers said the sheriff's office received an emergency call about 4:58 p.m. of a two-vehicle crash involving a Dodge Charger and a GMC Envoy.

Indian River County Fire Rescue transported one patient with serious injuries to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce and another patient to Indian River Medical Center.

The crash has blocked the north and southbound lanes of 33rd street since 5:17 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol traffic website.

It's unclear if the crash happened in the north or southbound lanes and if it was weather related.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
