Eugene, OR : Bicyclist died in a collision with a Lane County deputy in Eugene on Thursday night, Nov 19, 2015
Fifty-four-year-old Kimberly K. Wyatt of Eugene has been identified as the bicyclist who was killed when she was struck by a Lane County’s sheriff’s deputy Thursday shortly after 9 p.m. on Highway 99 just south of Randy Papé Beltline.
The deputy was identified by Oregon State Police as Ed Lagrone. He was driving a Ford F150 pickup, state police said.
Police said Wyatt was traveling north and riding on the left portion of the slow lane, near the dotted line that divides the two lanes, when she was struck.
Wyatt’s bicycle had no rear light or rear reflector, police said. She was declared dead at the scene.
Police said earlier that Wyatt was wearing dark clothing, and that it was dark at the time of the collision.
The highway, which has a posted speed limit of 55 mph where the accident occurred, was closed for about an hour after the accident. State police said they are continuing to investigate.
