Solano County, CA : One person injured after a Three-car collision in Vallejo on Thursday, August 18, 2016
A man was sent to a local hospital after a multi-car collision Thursday in Vallejo.
At approximately 3:40 p.m., a grey BMW was stopped at a stop sign at Broadway and Illinois streets when it was struck on the rear passenger side by a silver Toyota Tacoma, which was traveling a different direction.
The impact between the vehicles caused the BMW to slide into a third car, a red Corolla LE, and lightly graze a fire hydrant.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota Tacoma careened out of the street and onto the sidewalk, where his vehicle demolished a metal crosswalk pole and wiped out a cement trash can.
The Tacoma finally came to rest in the southbound lane of Broadway street.
It is unknown what vehicle the injured man was in during the time of the collision.
As he was being loading into an ambulance, the injured man was seen wearing a neck brace and had his head tied to the gurney to restrict further movement.
Due to the timing of the collision, a group of students walking home from school gathered around the scene to watch as responders provided medical attention and took statements from those involved.
Maria Sanchez, owner of nearby store, Bere's Bridal, said the intersection regularly sees two to three crashes every month.
Sanchez added that some sort of stop sign or stop light at the location is necessary to prevent further collisions and that it is currently unsafe for pedestrians and students who use the crosswalk every day.
