Kearny Mesa,CA : Rider dead and passenger hurt in motorcycle crash on SR-52 on April, monday 24th 2017
motorcyclist died and his passenger was seriously hurt after the motorcycle rear-ended a car on state Route 52 in Kearny Mesa Monday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
The pair was traveling westbound in the right lane shortly after 8 p.m. when the motorcycle struck a Honda Civic that had just merged onto the freeway at Convoy Street, CHP Sgt. Joseph Aboy told San Diego News Video.
The motorcycle was going about 75 mph, less than 10 mph above speed limit, and the car was traveling about 55 mph, Aboy said.
The impact threw the rider, a man in his late-40s, and his passenger, a woman in her mid-40s, onto the freeway lanes, Aboy said. Medics found both lying on the lanes, and one of them was unresponsive.

Medics started CPR on the man, but he died. The woman was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
A passing Hyundai sedan struck the motorcycle, launching the bike onto the left shoulder and causing it to catch fire, Aboy said.
None of the occupants in the Hyundai or Honda were hurt.
Debris across all westbound lanes halted traffic after the collision, Aboy said. The lanes remained closed until about 9:45 p.m., with traffic diverted off the freeway at Convoy until then.
