GASTONIA, NC : 21-year-old woman arrested in fatal Gastonia hit-and-run on Friday, 28th October 2016
Gastonia police have arrested a 21-year-old woman in Friday's fatal hit-and-run.
Saturday, Gastonia police issued a BOLO (be on the look out) for a 2010-2012 GMC Acadia SUV. Early Sunday morning, officials announced that they arrested Katie Montgomery in the case.
The collision reportedly happened in the 2700 block of Court Drive at approximately 9:44 p.m. Friday.
According to Gastonia police, Wanda Sue Hearn, 44, was walking along the street when she was hit by a dark colored SUV. The vehicle reportedly continued driving west on Court Drive towards Cox Road. Police believe the vehicle then turned right toward Ozark Avenue.
Hearn died from her injuries on scene.
Police said they found a burgundy SUV fitting the description at Montgomery's family member's house. Montgomery turned herself in to Gastonia police a short time later.
She's being charged with hit-and-run causing serious injury or death and her bond has been set at $75,000.
