Oakland,CA : Southbound I-880 reopens in Oakland after fatal crash involving FedEx truck on December, Thursday 21th 2017

A fatal crash involving a FedEx tractor-trailer in Oakland shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 880 for five hours Thursday, causing traffic gridlock that stretched into the height of the morning commute, officials said.

The wreck occurred about 3 a.m. when a sedan and the FedEx big rig collided near the freeway’s 66th Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Lanes were reopened by about 8:10 a.m., about five hours after the crash.
