A 43-year-old Toledo, Ohio, man has been struck by a car and killed while standing in a southeastern Michigan roadway.

The Monroe County sheriff's office says Saturday that Michael Carver had his back toward traffic Friday night on South Telegraph Road in Bedford Township.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 31-year-old Toledo woman driving the car that struck Carver was not hurt.

The sheriff's office says speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash which remains under investigation.
