Greer, SC : 23-year-old struck and killed in crash in Spartanburg County on Wednesday night, Aug 5, 2015

The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office said one person was killed in a crash in Spartanburg County on Wednesday night.

The coroner said he was called to 520 Victor Hill Rd. near Brookshire Road in Greer. The crash happened around 9:29 p.m.

Troopers said the driver of a 2003 Nissan was a 23-year-old male. The vehicle ran off the side of the road, struck a ditch, overturned, and hit a tree.

Troopers said the driver of the vehicle was seatbelted, entrapped, and had to be mechanically extracted. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

A male passenger was also seatbelted, was entrapped, and was transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Thursday morning that his office was still working to notify the next of kin.
