Salem , NH :Woman loses fiancee in vehicle crash on Route 28 on Tuesday , June 12th 2015
Melinda Nutter said her last moment with her fiancee Phillip Carter was a blessing.Carter, 33, was killed in a crash on Route 28 in Salem, New Hampshire, on Tuesday.
The crash was so violent that veteran police officers said it was the worst they had ever seen.Carter had just dropped off Carter at a dealership to pick up the new
car he got her so that she would be safer. As he was pulling out, police said 26-year-old Michael Gomez, of Lowell, was speeding, struck Carter's vehicle and ripped it
in half."I heard a really loud... I just screamed," Nutter said.Nutter ran to Carter and helped a doctor who stopped to give CPR.Carter died later at a hospital.
Nutter said it is a relief to hear that Gomez has been charged with negligent homicide.Nutter said they met at college in Vermont and were inseparable ever since.
"Actually, I can count on four fingers how many times we were apart. I was fortunate we had so much time with him," she said.Carter and Nutter worked together at a
garden center in Massachusetts and planned to get married. She said Carter was the smart musician who didn't walk through life, but bounced."I'm so thankful," she
said. "He told me, 'I love you.' I said, 'I love you so much.'"
