Brownsville, TX : A two vehicle accident on Tuesday, July 11, 2017

The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday continued to investigate a two vehicle accident that left one person dead and another seriously injured.
The accident occurred Tuesday morning on State Highway 48 near the Brownsville Shrimp Basin outside Brownsville, authorities said.
Lieutenant Johnny Hernandez, spokesman for the DPS, said a preliminary investigation indicates the accident happened after a Jeep Liberty vehicle experienced a tire blow out and veered into the path of a tractor-trailer rig. The vehicles collided.
The driver of the Jeep Liberty was transported to a local hospital where he died. A passenger in the Jeep Liberty was also transported to the hospital and was listed in serious condition.
Hernandez said the driver of the tractor-trailer rig was not injured.
