EL PASO COUNTY, CO : 1 killed, 1 injured in pair of crashes north of Colorado Springs on Monday, 14th October 2024
One person is dead and a second person is seriously injured after a pair of collisions just north of Colorado Springs.
According to State Patrol, the first crash happened late Monday afternoon on I-25 near the North Gate exit. Troopers say a man in an F-150 was driving erratically in the southbound lanes, causing him to collide with a Toyota RAV4, then hit a guardrail before flipping over. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. The driver in the Toyota only sustained minor injuries.
Several hours after the first crash, a CDOT truck was still on scene cleaning up when a Honda Pilot rear-ended it. That driver was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital. State Patrol says the CDOT vehicle was empty at the time of the crash, and that worker was not injured.
At the time of this writing, the driver killed has only been identified as a 69-year-old man. The driver in the second crash was a woman, but no identifying details were released.
