An 85-year-old Spartanburg woman died Friday morning after suffering injuries in a car crash.
Spartanburg Police Maj. Art Littlejohn and Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Pearl Delancey Philson died after the crash. Littlejohn said in a statement that Philson died at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Littlejohn said officers responded to the intersection of Isom Street and Beaumont Avenue at 8:35 a.m. Friday. After they arrived, officers found two cars with significant damage.
A preliminary investigation determined a Cadillac was attempting to make a left turn when it was hit by a pickup truck, Littlejohn said in the statement.
Philson was a passenger in the Cadillac, Littlejohn said.
The driver of the Cadillac was issued a citation for failing to yield, he said in the statement.
Littlejohn said the driver of the pickup truck was not taken to the hospital.
