Milton resident killed by careless driver Pensacola
A 20-year-old Milton resident died last week after a careless driving accident sent him and a passenger in his vehicle to Sacred Heart Hospital with critical injuries, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol on Tuesday.At about 6:30 a.m. Nov. 26, Eric W. Young and his passenger, Kimberly D. Apperson, 30, of Milton were stopped in a Kia behind a van which was at a stop sign facing east on East Gate Road on the west shoulder of Munson Highway.Then a Ford pickup truck driven by Dakota Crank, 23, of Pensacola slammed into the back of Young’s Kia, and the crash’s impact forced the Kia into the back of the van.Young’s vehicle came to a final rest facing north on East Gate Road. Crank fled the scene of the accident but was later apprehended in Pensacola.Young and Apperson were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital with critical injuries. Young died Friday morning at the hospital from his injuries.The driver of the truck sustained no injuries, but about $1,000 in damages was done to the vehicle.Crank now faces charges of careless driving, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, driving with license suspended or revoked, and driving with license suspended or revoked with seriously bodily injuries.
