Clarksville, TN : One Killed In two-Vehicle Crash On Hwy 41 A Bypass In Clarksville on Wednesday afternoon, January 28, 2015

One person was killed in a crash that closed a busy Clarksville road for more than 10 hours.

Officials said it happened at the 41A bypass and Glendale Drive just after 12 p.m. Wednesday. A gasoline tanker hit a car head on then jackknifed, hit a utility police, and rolled over, according to officers with the Clarksville Police Department.

Police said the driver of the car, Wyatt Martin, 20, was killed. He was a member of the military. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Officials added some gas was leaking from the truck. Late Wednesday evening, officials were still on the scene cleaning up the gasoline and clearing the vehicles from the intersection.

"This is probably one of the most heavily traveled stretches of roadway in Montgomery County. There is a large number of accidents on this stretch of highway but right now we're concentrating our efforts on getting this mess cleaned up," said Deputy Fire Chief Howell Albright.

A detour was set up between Vista Lane and 7 Mile Ferry Road. The roadway finally reopened around 11 p.m.

The investigation continues into the collision. No other details have been released.
