Eau Claire, WI : Cyclist killed in crash on the city’s north side on Monday, August 8, 2016
Eau Claire police have released the name of a motorcyclist killed in a crash on the city’s north side just before midnight Monday.
Eau Claire police and firefighters responded to the crash at 11:58 p.m. in the 900 block of Piedmont Road, where Brian C. Jochum, 33, of Eau Claire was found.
According to information released by the Police Department:
Upon arrival, officers observed a motorcycle that had left the roadway and crashed into a trailer that was parked in the driveway of a residence on Piedmont Road.
Jochum, the adult male driver of the motorcycle, was located under the trailer with severe injuries. Eau Claire police officers performed CPR on Jochum until Eau Claire firefighters arrived; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second adult male who had been working on the trailer at the time of the crash was also injured and was transported to a local hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries.
Members of Eau Claire Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team and Crime Scene Unit assisted patrol officers in collecting evidence and documenting the scene of the crash. This case remains under investigation.
The name of the deceased driver is being withheld pending family notification.
