WATERLOO, IA : Authorities identify 7-month-old boy who died in car crash on August, Thursday 3rd 2017

Authorities have released the name of a 7-month-old boy who died Thursday in a car crash in northeastern Iowa.

Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reported that the crash happened after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in a construction zone in downtown Waterloo when the driver of a pickup truck was westbound on Sycamore Street and hit a minivan traveling north on First Street.

At least four children in the minivan were injured. Liam Mwanje was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with life-threatening injuries. He died the next day.

The other victims, whose identities have not yet been released by authorities, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.
