Pico Rivera, CA : Three people injured in 8-vehicle crash on 605 Freeway on Thursday, January 22, 2015

Three people suffered minor injuries Thursday after a crash involving eight vehicles on the southbound 605 Freeway, north of Beverly Boulevard.

The 8:20 a.m. crash shut down three lanes for nearly two hours.

California Highway Patrol Officer Al Perez said for unknown reasons, a driver in the No. 1 lane didn’t notice the vehicle in front that was slowing down. The first car rear-ended the second vehicle. It started a chain reaction. The second car got pushed into a third car which then rear ended a fourth vehicle.

Perez said the first car veered towards the carpool lane, hit the center median, bounced then struck a Nissan.

“That impact caused the Nissan to face the wrong way,” he said.

He said another car collided with the Nissan then ended up in the No. 1 lane where it hit a vehicle. This seventh car then got pushed into another vehicle.

Three people were taken to Beverly Hospital in Montebello for minor injuries, Perez said.
