Smokey Point, WA : Man injured after 3-vehicle accident on I-5 near Smokey Point on Saturday, April 16, 2016
A Kent man was flown by helicopter to a Seattle hospital Saturday after a three-vehicle accident on I-5 near Smokey Point.
The man, 41, was southbound in a 2005 Audi when he changed lanes, ending up on the shoulder and driving onto the flatbed of a tow truck, which had been loading a motorcycle. The Audi “went airborne and landed on its top,” according to a Washington State Patrol accident memo.
The Audi struck a Graham man, 54, who was a passenger in the tow truck. The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The tow truck driver, 51, of Granite Falls, was not injured.
Another car coming up to the scene — driven by a Stanwood man, 19 — slid onto the left shoulder and struck a guardrail after the driver hit his brakes. That driver was not injured.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
