Omaha, NE : Atlantic man seriously injured in concrete truck, semi crash in southwest of Red Oak on Wednesday, May 18, 2016

A 55-year-old Atlantic, Iowa, man was seriously injured Wednesday when his concrete truck crashed with a semitrailer truck southwest of Red Oak.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said John Jamison was taken to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 4 p.m. at B Avenue and 260th Street.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies found a 2002 Mack concrete truck, which had been driven by Jamison, on its side in the B Avenue east ditch about a quarter-mile south of 260th Street. A 2013 Mack semitrailer truck and its 1995 Flow Boy trailer were found in a field southeast of the cement truck.

The semi was southbound on Avenue B when the semi’s driver, Dondi Jackson, 48, of Omaha, was distracted and crossed the center line, the Sheriff’s Office said. The concrete truck was northbound on Avenue B when it made minor contact with the semi.

The concrete truck overturned in the east ditch while the semi entered the east ditch, struck a barbed-wire fence and came to rest in the field, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Jackson was checked for injuries at the scene and refused transport to a hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said.
