CHARLOTTE, NC : Woman killed in crash with CMPD vehicle buried her sister day before she died on Saturday, August 26, 2017

Not many people have experienced the week Larissa McCorkle has had. She lost two daughters in one week.

Her youngest daughter, 25-year-old LaChandra Ciera McCorkle, died Saturday afternoon in a collision with a marked Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police vehicle.

Investigators say an off-duty police officer was driving the CMPD Ford Explorer south on West Sugar Creek Road when McCorkle entered the intersection from Sofley Road. Police say the officer hit the left side of the McCorkle's Honda Accord.

McCorkle was rushed to the hospital where she died.

Investigators say speed was not a factor in the crash. They say they're "working to determine if impairment was a contributing factor for the driver of the Honda."

The victim's mother says she has a lot of questions.

"Why? What happened?" Larissa McCorkle asked. "Why you detoured?"

She says her daughter was on the way home to Kannapolis. She doesn't understand why she got off I-85. But those are the least of her questions.

At the forefront of her mind is how - how is it possible this is happening? Again.

"Like I’m on my knees crying but I just can’t get up," she said.

Exactly a week before her daughter Ciera died, Larissa's first born was killed in a crash on I-77 in Charlotte.

Highway Patrol says during the overnight hours on Saturday, August 19, Ambra Hunt was driving in the center lane when her Nissan broke down. The car stopped. Investigators say the hazard lights were on but another car couldn't avoid hitting Hunt's vehicle.

Troopers say there were three other people in the car with Hunt. Two, including Hunt, died.

Larissa McCorkle says she spent the week preparing for her daughter's funeral.

"Try to make it the best funeral we can and then we celebrated her that Friday," she said. "We hugged each other, said I love you's, be home soon, can't wait to see until next time and then that Saturday."

Then on Saturday, August 26, the mother got another call about another daughter in a car crash.

"At this point, I’m tired. I’m broke, don’t have no words," she told WBTV. "I didn’t believe it. I didn’t believe it. I didn’t believe it at all. I didn’t believe it when the police officer told us in the room. I had to have some kind of proof. I had to see a tattoo. I had to see her hair. I had to see something."

Larissa McCorkle has four other children.

Ambra Hunt was the oldest of six. Ciera McCorkle was the youngest of the three daughters.

"They were both loving. I guess they couldn’t live without each other. That’s how I’m thinking about it right now," she said. "One called the other one. The other one called the other one – say come on up here and that’s how it went."

Now, Larissa McCorkle is planning yet another funeral.
