Arlington, MO : Two men from Florida hurt in Phelps county semi crash on Tuesday, March 28, 2017

Two men from Florida suffered serious injuries in an 18-wheeler crash in Phelps County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the truck was headed west on I-44 near Arlington Tuesday when a tire blew. The truck ran off the left side of the road, crossed the median and the east bound lanes of traffic before crashing into the ditch and throwing debris up onto railroad tracks.

Both men were wearing seat belts, but the force of the crash threw one of them out of the cab. The two were airlifted to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.

The crash backed up traffic on I-44 for a while, and cleanup of the debris on the railroad tracks disrupted train traffic for several hours.
