Lebanon, NH : Keene State student from Maine stable after being hit by car in downtown Keene on Monday morning, April 25, 2016

A Keene State College student remains in satisfactory condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, on Monday morning, five days after being struck by a car in downtown Keene.

Abbie Sweatt, 21, of Scarborough, Maine, suffered serious head trauma in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene, then airlifted to the Lebanon hospital, according to Keene police.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, Dolores Blanchard, 87, of Swanzey, New Hampshire, had been traveling north on Main Street near the Elliot Street intersection when she failed to stop for Sweatt, who was walking in the crosswalk from the college campus. Police said Blanchard was issued a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

The accident remains under investigation by the Keene Police Collision Analysis Team.
