Dallas, TX : Driver hurt when BMW crashes, bursts into flames at Market Hall in Stemmons Corridor on Saturday, July 30, 2016

A driver was seriously injured when his car crashed and burned at Market Hall in the Stemmons Corridor.

Several officers were working nearby just before the crash when a speeding BMW passed them at about 100 mph, narrowly missing one of them.

Moments later, at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, they were called about a crashed BMW. Authorities said it's likely the same car, but they couldn't confirm that.

Officers found the driver outside the car. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Police said he was southbound on Harry Hines Boulevard and tried to take the split to Market Center Boulevard at high speed, but lost control. The BMW traveled across a median, struck a railroad sign, traveled across some train tracks and went airborne.

The car struck a tree, traveled about 75 more feet, struck another tree and spun across the Market Hall parking lot. It stopped after careening into another tree and burst into flames.
