ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP, ND : Fatal crash claims life of Painesville man and injures one on Sunday, November, 5th 2017
The Ashtabula Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality and one injury.
At approximately 1:16 a.m. on Sunday, troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash on Jefferson Road near Howard Road, said Ohio Patrol Sergeant L.P. Jones.
He said the vehicle involved in the accident was a 2008 Toyota Scion driven by Austin J. Williams, 22 years old, of Painesville. Williams was transported to Ashtabula County Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased, Jones said.
The passenger of the 2008 Toyota Scion was Aaron J. Hanna, 21 years old, of Geneva.
Hanna was transported to Ashtabula County Medical Center for serious injuries, he said.
Jones said the preliminary investigations shows the Toyota was traveling northbound on Jefferson Road.
The car drove left of center and traveled off the left side of the roadway.
It then struck a mailbox, a tree, a fencepost and a second tree.
The Ashtabula Fire Department, Saybrook Fire Department and Community Care were on scene, Jones said.
The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
