SEEKONK, MASS : Man killed in crash on I-195 in Seekonk on Tuesday, 2nd July 2024 07/2/2024

A man was killed in a crash on I-195 West in Seekonk on Tuesday.

Massachusetts State Police said troopers responded to reports of a crash involving an SUV, box truck, and tractor-trailer near Exit 1 around 1:20 p.m.

Authorities said a 36-year-old man from Springfield driving the SUV died in the crash.

The SUV and box truck ignited after the collision, resulting in a shutdown of all three lanes.

A 45-year-old man driving the box truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured, according to police.

It was the second multi-vehicle crash of the day in Seekonk, with five people injured on the same stretch earlier in the morning.

Officials said all lanes were reopened and the scene was cleared shortly after 6:30 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by troopers assigned to collision and crime scene teams.
