Keenesburg, CO : Passenger killed in collision southeast of Keenesburg after driver failed to yield on Saturday, 25th April, 2020

A 22-year-old man was killed Saturday night after the van he was riding in collided with a pickup truck at an intersection southeast of Keenesburg.

A 19-year-old man was driving a 2008 Chrysler van with three passengers west on Weld County Road 16, when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Weld 73, according to Colorado State Patrol’s Trooper Josh Lewis. A 42-year-old man was driving a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck south on Weld 73, colliding with the van.

The 22-year-old male passenger of the van was declared dead on scene. A 17-year-old male passenger was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and the 19-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, according to Lewis.

A 25-year-old male passenger of the van who was wearing his seat belt received only minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital. Lewis said it’s not known whether the others in the van were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the pickup also received minor injuries.
