Mcminville, OR : Two people seriously injured in a crash on Highway 18 near McMinnville on Saturday morning, June 27, 2015
Two people were seriously injured in a crash along Highway 18 early Saturday morning.
According to a news release, the crash was reported at milepost 40 near McMinnville around 7:15 a.m.
A man driving a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe drifted off the highway into a ditch, over-corrected and crashed head-on into a Yamhill County Sheriff's Office deputy traveling westbound.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash and the Hyundai caught fire. The deputy, 27-year-old Dave Mills, was transported to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.
The man driving the Hyundai was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, also with serious injuries.
Both men were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
