Springfield, IL : A University of Evansville student died on May, Saturday 6th 2017

A University of Evansville student died Sunday morning after a semi-truck crashed into his vehicle Saturday.

Devin Cyr, 20, of Remington, Indiana, died at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

Cyr was involved in an accident at U.S. 41 and County Road 100 West in Gibson County around 3 p.m. Saturday.

A semi driven by Kent Hayenga, 66, of Linn Grove, Iowa, was southbound on the highway but did not stop at the intersection and collided with two stopped vehicles.

The semi first hit Cyr's 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor then into a 2016 Ford Fiesta.

Cyr was trapped in the vehicle after the accident and the Princeton Fire Department had to extract him. He was taken to Deaconess Hospital for treatment. He died Sunday morning.
