A 6-year-old boy died in a traffic accident Monday afternoon when the car he was riding in veered off the eastbound lane of Interstate 84 and crashed into a large wooden sound barrier, state police said.
According to state police documents, the child, Jayden Carabello, was seated in a booster seat in the back passenger side of the vehicle. The SUV was driven by Banis Claros, 29. Both are Silver Lane residents. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The collision occurred around 1 p.m., between exits 58 and 59 in East Hartford. The car sustained heavy damage and rolled over at some point, local fire officials said.
