Portage County, OH : Minerva-area woman dies after Paris Township crash on Sunday evening, December 25, 2016
A 76-year-old Minerva-area woman died at Aultman Hospital after sustaining serious injuries Christmas evening in a crash on State 183, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Beverly A. Fry was riding as a passenger in a red 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Richard R. Fry, 79, of Minerva sometime before 7:39 p.m. Sunday. The Patrol said the driver was making a left turn onto Freed Street from State Route 183 or Union Avenue SE when a white 2003 Buick Regal driven by an 80-year-old Minerva man that was going south hit the Fusion.
The Minerva Fire Department took Beverly Fry to Aultman where doctors could not save her. Richard Fry had a second passenger. A juvenile who was sitting in the back seat of the Fusion was also hurt but not as seriously, the OHP statement said.
The 80-year-old Minerva man was not hurt. Richard Fry's injury status was not clear.
The statement said everyone involved in the crash was wearing seat belts and alcohol is not believed to have played a role.
OHP troopers still are working on determining exactly what happened and who was at fault.
