A northern Idaho teenager who was reported missing following a high school prom but was later found by police has died in a car crash.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year-old Kristian Branden Perez died following a vehicle accident near Lenore on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lewiston Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2pGTj8i) that Perez was flown to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center where a nursing supervisor confirmed the death.

Police say Perez lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over a small embankment.

Perez was the subject of a runaway investigation earlier this week following a school prom in Orofino. He was found Tuesday in Orofino and released into the custody of his parents.
