Nashville, TN : Jon Frasier, 25, killed, two people injured in head-on collision on State Highway 64 on Friday morning, February 20, 2015
One man was killed and two people including an infant were injured in a head-on collision Friday morning on Lewisburg Highway, police say.
Jon Frasier, 25, of Shelbyville was killed, according to a preliminary report by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Paul Sanders. Kenzlie Frasier, a 1-year-old in the car, was injured and was taken by ambulance to the helipad at the former Bedford County Hospital on Union Street and airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
The accident occurred near the 1100 block of Lewisburg Highway (State Highway 64), close to Shamrock Farms. Officials said the call came in about 7:26 a.m.
Frasier was driving a silver 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix westbound on Highway 64 and crossed into the eastbound lane, striking the other vehicle head-on, the report states. The other vehicle, a black 2014 Ford F-150 pickup, was driven by Randy Brown, 45, of Lewisburg, the report states. The pickup went down a slight embankment.
The report does not state why the Grand Prix traveled into the wrong lane.
Brown was airlifted by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center from a nearby field.
Michael Smith of the Bedford County Rescue Squad was traveling on Lewisburg Highway when he came upon the early morning accident, and stopped to help. He helped county firefighters remove Brown from the pickup. The child was unconscious at the scene, Smith said.
Kenzlie was sitting in a child restraint seat in the right, rear side of the vehicle, the report states. Both men were wearing their seat belts. It is not known if speed was a factor.
