Kuttawa, KY : Louisville woman killed in Lyon County car crash September 2 2016

According to a release from Kentucky State Police, officers from KSP post one in Mayfield responded to a 911 call of a two-car crash near Kuttawa, Kentucky.

Officials say preliminary investigation shows 71-year-old Leslie D. Cunningham of Evansville, Indiana was traveling westbound in the right hand lane of Interstate 24. 73-year-old Joseph M. Mouser of Rineyville, Kentucky was traveling westbound in the left hand lane next to Cunningham.

Cunningham turned into the left hand lane in what officials say appears to be an attempted U-turn across the interstate.

72-year-old Mary D. Fugate of Louisville was a passenger in Cunningham's vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries by the Lyon County Coroner.

Cunningham was airlifted from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville with non-life threatening injuries.

Mouser refused medical treatment for minor abrasions.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
