Fort Lauderdale,FL : Motorcyclist dies in crash with pickup truck on November, Friday 3rd 2017

A motorcyclist was killed when a pickup truck driver turned into the bike’s path Friday morning in downtown Fort Lauderdale, police said.

The crash happened at 6:15 a.m. at Broward Boulevard and Southwest Third Avenue.

The motorcyclist, whose identification hasn’t been released, was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle and heading west on Broward Boulevard, said police spokeswoman Tracy Figone.

At the same time, a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading east on Broward Boulevard. When that driver turned left to head north on Southwest Third Avenue, the driver crossed into the path of the motorcycle, which slammed into the passenger side of the truck, police said.

The motorcyclist died in the crash and the pickup truck driver stayed at the scene. No citations have been issued but police are still investigating the crash, Figone said.

Police were unable to say whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
