Salt Lake City, UT : 36-year-old woman dead after fatal Utah crash on Tuesday, June 21, 2016

A 36-year-old Syracuse woman died Tuesday after a pickup truck T-boned her car in a Layton intersection, police said.

Cindy Smith was identified as the victim, Layton police said Wednesday.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Antelope Drive and 700 West, said Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman.

Smith was driving north on 700 West in a Toyota Camry, while a 17-year-old girl was driving the pickup truck east on Antelope Drive, Lyman said. The truck collided with the car, striking the sedan on the driver's side.

Smith suffered "major injuries" and was taken to Davis hospital where she was later pronounced dead, Lyman said. The teenager had no outward injuries but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Neither vehicle was carrying any passengers.

Police said Wednesday that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
