Knox County, TN : One person dead and three injured in head-on collision on Friday night August 7th 2015
A Knoxville man is facing charges after a head-on collision in west Knox County that left one person dead and three hurt.
According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, David E. Baird, 31, was driving eastbound on Oak Ridge Highway near West Emory Road Friday night when he crossed the center median. His pickup truck hit an oncoming car head-on.
The driver of the car, Lori B. Dunaway, 27, and a child passenger, Taylor D. Dunaway, 3, were hurt. Dunaway's second passenger, Michael K. Dunaway, 29, was killed.
Troopers said all four people involved were wearing a seat belt.
The passenger who died was a Knox County Schools security officer at Northshore Elementary School.
Principal Brandon Pratt sent us this statement:
"The staff and families at Northshore Elementary are grieving this tragic loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Dunaway. Officer Dunaway had a deep impact on our staff, students and families, and was more than a security officer. He was a friend to all and a significant member of the Northshore family."
