Titusville, FL : Merritt Island woman killed in single-car crash on State Road 520 in Brevard County early Thursday, Nov 26, 2015

A Merritt Island woman was killed early Thursday when her car veered off State Road 520 in Brevard County and hit a traffic-signal support pole, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jessica Hebert, 36, was westbound approaching Kiwanis Island Park Road when her 2005 Nissan Altima went over a curb on the north side of the street — also known as Merritt Island Causeway — and struck the pole about 3:45 a.m, troopers said.

Hebert, who troopers said was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
