Hamden, CT : School bus driver seriously injured after the bus crashed into a tree in Hamden on Wednesday, March 16, 2016

Officials say a school bus driver has been seriously injured after the bus she was behind the wheel of crashed into a tree in Hamden.

Investigators say no children were on board when the bus hit the tree just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Fire officials say it took crews about 30 minutes to free the driver. Authorities say she was conscious when she was transported to a hospital but suffered major injuries.

It's unclear what caused the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
