D'IBERVILLE, MS : Police looking for hit-and-run driver that injured child on Tuesday, March 14th 2017

D’Iberville police are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a U-Haul truck that sent a 12-year-old to the hospital Tuesday.

Police Chief Wayne Payne said investigators are working to gather any details that could identify the driver of the truck.

Payne said the child was sitting on the curb in the 17000 block of Avondale Circle with a group of friends when they spotted the box-style truck coming toward them.

The truck reportedly hit the child as the group was moving away from the roadway and then left the scene. Police responded to the call around 7:30 p.m.

Payne said the child was taken to an area hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Mobile, AL to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
