Shelby, NC : One person died, two injured in 4-vehicle crash on Highway 74 and Polkville Road on Monday, Oct 26, 2015

One person was killed and two others injured in a vehicle crash in Shelby Monday.

The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 74 and Polkville Road. Officials said the accident involved four vehicles with a total of six people.

They said one car traveling on Highway 74 went across the median and struck three other vehicles. They said the person killed in the accident was not in the car that crossed the median. Police have not said what may have led the vehicle to cross the median.

Officers said one person was killed in the wreck. Two others were taken to an area hospital, but officers did not have details about their condition.

No names have been released.

They said crews from the Shelby Police Department, Shelby Fire Department, Cleveland County EMS, Cleveland County REACT, and Shelby Rescue all responded to the scene of the accident.
