Seattle, WA : Six people injured and one critically injured after multiple-car crash along Inter state 5 on Thursday ,may 28th 2015
Six people were injured in a multiple-car crash Thursday morning on southbound Interstate 5 just north of the Boeing Access Road that caused a 7-mile backup into downtown.
Two cars were involved in the crash around 8:15 a.m., and one vehicle holding four people went over the guardrail and 60 to 70 feet down a steep embankment, said Trooper Clark Jones of the Washington State Patrol.
One person was able to crawl out of the car, but firefighters had to extricate the other three, according to Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore.
Six people were taken to Harborview Medical Center, but only one is in serious condition with a back injury, Moore said.
The people in both cars were all juniors at Cleveland High School, a staff member said. Juniors weren’t required to be on campus until 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
There are preliminary reports that both cars may have been driving erratically, Jones said, but the cause of the accident is unknown at this point.
The crash is being investigated as a felony collision, Jones said.
