Tallahassee, FL : Fiery Thanksgiving crash kills two, including toddler on Thursday, November 24th 2016
A toddler and an adult were killed in a fiery car crash Thursday afternoon in northwest Miami-Dade near Allapattah.
A Mercedes and a Honda Civic were traveling eastbound on NW North River Drive when one of the vehicles lost control and collided with the other, sending both vehicles crashing into a nearby lot where they caught on fire, according to a preliminary Miami-Dade Police Department investigation.
The crash took place at 2974 NW North River Dr., Miami-Dade Police Department spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said in an e-mail.
Four people were trapped inside the cars when Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, but one man was able to get out with minor burns and firefighters managed to free a female passenger, Miami-Dade Fire Battalion Chief Danny Cardeso told CBS4.
The woman was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and is listed in critical but stable condition, according to Zabaleta. The other survivor was treated at the scene.
The victims have not yet been identified by name, but police said the driver of the Mercedes — a man in his mid-30s — and a toddler riding in the back seat of the Mercedes were both killed.
